The price difference in running costs across the country varies greatly
According to a new survey, many motorists in the UK are forking out over £1,000 extra per year to keep their car on the road simply because of where they live.
In London, drivers are paying out around £3,133 for car insurance, road tax, MOTs and repairs, whereas motorists in Wales spend on average just £2,000 on car running costs per year.
The survey also revealed motorists in the UK are forking out more for the upkeep of their vehicle every month (£203) than they spend on electric, gas, water, broadband and telephone joined together (£194).

As part of the study, the car company analysed how much motorists in the UK spend on the upkeep of their vehicle but didn’t include the cost of fuel.
The most expensive place in the country to run a car is in the capital, followed by Scotland and the North East.
They also discovered that almost one million cars are only being used once a month, meaning many cars are left on the driveway whilst the owners still have to pay out a small fortune just to keep it road worthy – this figure increases to more than two million for cars used less than once per week.
Motorists living in the Midlands are getting the best deal, paying only 62p per mile for driving, whereas commuters in London are having to fork out £1.56 per mile.
