What’s Your Favourite One To Sing Along To On A Car Journey?
There’s just 10 more days until Christmas, which means many more trips to the shops before the big day arrives, therefore plenty of car journey’s for most of us and what do you want to hear whilst your driving at this time of the year… Christmas songs, of course!

Listening to Christmas songs on the car radio whilst you head out to the shops in your car really gets you in the festive spirit and makes you feel happy. The songs even continue to play in the stores you need to go into and keep the mood going until you get back to your car for the journey back home.
Of course, there’s so many wonderful Christmas songs that are played every year and we all have our favourites – mine is Mary’s Boy Child by Boney M, as I think it’s a joyful, happy song and it always makes me feel Christmassy when I hear it.

1. Driving Home For Christmas – Chris Rea
This had to be on the list and at number one, as it’s the ultimate Christmas driving song – the title confirms it! A cracking song for all the family to enjoy whilst on a car journey this festive season.
2. It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year – Andy Williams
The smooth voice of Andy Williams at Christmas is a must, especially when you’re in the car visiting family and friends over the festive period.
3. Merry Christmas Everybody – Slade
A true Christmas classic that’ll have you and your passengers singing along as you drive to the shops for last minute gifts or delicious food and drink to enjoy with loved ones.
4. Step Into Christmas – Elton John
A super catchy Christmas song that you can’t help boogying along too, especially on a car journey!
5. I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday – Wizzard
Maybe the kids agree with this one but I don’t think many parents do! It’s a brilliant Christmas song though and definitely one of the true classics. It wouldn’t feel like Christmas without hearing this one at lease once a day before the 25th!
6. Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree – Brenda Lee
It might be old (1958 U.S) but it never gets old, as it’s one of the greatest Christmas songs ever. Brenda Lee was only 13 when the song was recorded but her voice sounds much older and wouldn’t be the same if she wasn’t the one singing it.
7. All I Want For Christmas Is You – Mariah Carey
Since it was released in 1994, this Christmas song has become one of the most played every festive season. Apparently, the New Yorker described it as “one of the few worthy modern additions to the holiday canon” and I agree!
8. Home For Christmas Day – The Red Car & Blue Car (Milky Way)
One for the young children (and old), as this one was played a lot in our house back in the day. This fun, cheery song came about after the Milky Way advert in 1989 and was an instant hit with our family and I think you’re kids (and you) will love it too!
9. Merry Christmas Everyone – Shakin’ Stevens
Released in 1985, this Christmas song made it to Number 1 spot in the UK that year and it so deserved it! Another super catchy one that makes you feel happy and festive.
10. The Pogues & Kirsty MacColl – Fairytale Of New York
Here in the UK, ‘Fairytale of New York’ is the most played Christmas song of the 21st century and that’s because it’s brilliant!
