The Swedish automobile manufacturers are on track for another record year in retail sales
Swedish automobile manufacturers Volvo have announced global sales growth of 8.2% for the first half of the year and are on track for another record 12 months in retail sales.
During the first half of 2017, the total number of car sales was reported at 277,641. This figure for the same period last year stood at 256,563.
Worldwide retail sales for the month of June came in at 54,351 motors, which was an increase of 5.7% for the company when compared to the same month just a year ago.

The company says huge demand for their new 90 series has played an important role in ensuring positive sales, however the 1st generation XC60 is still the companies overall best seller.
Volvo celebrated record sales in the UK for the month of June – 5,018 vehicles sold which equates a 4% increase compared to the same month last year.
A total of 24,519 Volvo models have sold in the UK over the last six months, an increase of 8.4% compared to the same period in 2016.
So far this year, their best selling model here in the UK is the XC60, followed by the V40, XC90 and the V90.
Volvo’s largest market is China, where sales increased by a very strong 30.9% to 10,113 motors for the month of June, whilst the company reported a growth in sales for the same month in the Asia Pacific region, up 27.3% with 13,769 cars sold.
Overall sales for the first six months of the year had grown in both the Asia Pacific region and China, at 22.6% and 27.6% respectively, helped by strong demand for the XC60, S60L and S90 models, which are all produced locally.
In the fist six month of this year, the Americas region has reported sales of 41,277 cars – 34,102 of which were sold in the United States. The most popular model of Volvo in this region is the XC60, with the XC90 not far behind.
The extremely popular Volvo XC60 came out on top as the best-selling model worldwide for the month of June, with sales of 16,905, followed by the Volvo V40/V40 Cross Country with sales of 9,434 cars.
The Volvo XC90 took third spot, with reported sales of 7,972 cars.
