British auto firm announces its intention to hire 1,000 ex-members of the British Armed Forces
The British-based auto manufacturer has announced its intention to employ 1,000 ex-members of the Armed Forces by 2020 as it aims to become “the employer of choice for those leaving the forces”.
Jaguar Land Rover, owned by Indian conglomerate Tata Group, is a Presenting Partner of the Invictus Games, which were founded by Prince Harry in 2014 to celebrate the “power of sports to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and to demonstrate life beyond disability”.

This year’s Invictus Games are to be held in Florida and will witness over 500 ex-military men and women from 15 nations competing in 10 different sporting events, including archery, road cycling, swimming and wheelchair tennis.
To coincide with the Florida Invictus Games, Jaguar Land Rover has also announced a new training programme for 180 veterans in North America. The 180 ex-military members will then be offered a job with the auto firm following the training programme.
JLR has employed 200 ex-military men and women within its UK business sector since the 2014 Invictus Games and is now committing itself to training and employing a further 1,000 veterans by 2020. At present, JLR employs a total of 25,000 workers here in the UK.
According the The Mirror, a spokesperson for JLR said: “It is fitting that this announcement comes ahead of the Invictus Games… I am immeasurably proud that through our company, and the Jaguar Land Rover Learning Academy, we have been able to give hundreds of ex-service personnel the opportunity to rebuild their lives and careers.”
