REVA G-Wiz voted UK's worst car ever

The electric city car beats the three-wheeling Reliant Robin to take top spot!

In a poll carried out by Auto Express, 4,782 readers were asked what car they would choose as the worst car ever to grace British roads and with 493 of the votes, top spot went to the small micro electric car the G-Wiz.
The REVAi, or “G-Wiz” as it is known in the UK, was produced in Bangalore, India, by the REVA Elecric Car Company between 2001 to 2012 and was designed to be cheap to run and easy to park.

However, the car has been described as ugly, uncomfortable, underpowered and extremely unsafe, so it’s no surprise that the British public chose it as their number one worst car ever.
With 474 votes and taking second place was the Austin Allegro, a small family car which was manufactured from 1973 to 1982. Nicknamed the “flying pig” in the early days due to its rounded style, the Allegro sold over 642,000 during its nine years in production.
The Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible was introduced in 2005. The American hot-rod styled car suffered from many problems including poor handling and low sales, which is probably why it finished in third place on the list with 347 votes.
Only one vote behind in fourth place was the very cheap and extremely spacious but incredibly ugly SsangYong Rodius minivan, with a total of 346 votes. Fifth on the list was the Alfa Romeo Arna – 53,047 of these “frumpy” looking cars were produced between 1983 and 1987.
Sixth place went to the Rover CityRover with 302 votes. Classed as a supermini car, production only lasted two years from 2003 to 2005 and was tested undercover in 2004 by James May of Top Gear fame, who described the car as “the worst car I have driven on this programme.”
The Morris Marina came in seventh with 301 votes, followed closely by the three-wheeling Reliant Robin, which was in production for 30 years and made famous by appearing in the much loved British sitcom Only Fools and Horses.
Readers voted the FSO Polonez into ninth place, a Polish car based on the Fiat 125p and in production from 1978 to 2002 and finally, in 10th place with 245 votes, the Vauxhall Frontera. A mid-size SUV which was manufactured by Isuzu Motors and in production from 1989-2004 was described as having as many faults as it had names.
Auto Express said that a number of factors play a part in why a car is voted as being the worst ever, including how it performs and how it looks but according to motorists in the UK, bad reliability is one of the main reasons for voting a car into the list of worst cars ever.
