Who’s taken top spot this time… will the Fiesta be triumphant in September?
September saw the release of the ’67’ registration plate which will continue to run for the next six months but what have been the best sellers in the month which provided us with the 67th Frankfurt Motor Show, where a myriad of brand new models were revealed to the press and members of the public.
According to figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), in September a grand total of 426,170 new cars were registered and whilst diesel sales were down 22% for the month and petrol 1.2%, hybrid and electric cars had a much stronger September.
The demand for alternatively fuelled vehicles (AFVs) is on the up and the figures for September are proof that this is the case, with 22,628 registrations, a jump of 41% compared to the previous month and by 34.6% in the year to date.
So far this year, a total of 94,000 alternatively fuelled vehicles have been registered, however despite positive sales its market share still remains at a low 5%.
For the fourth month running, the Ford Fiesta has failed to take it’s crown back, this time losing out to Nissan who take top spot with their seemingly popular Qashqai, however it’s the Fiesta that sits on top regarding the best selling cars so far for 2017.
Will the Ford Fiesta be triumphant overall for 2017, or will Volkswagen and Nissan creep up and one of them take the glory… only a few more months left until we find out!
