New automotive part plant to open in Coventry

Voith Industrial Services is to move its wheels and tyres production line to a bigger space

A growing demand from the UK automotive industry for automotive parts has resulted in Voith Industrial Services announcing plans to open a new wheel and tyre factory in Coventry.
The new state-of-the-art production plant is already under construction in Torrington Avenue, Tile Hill, and once completed it will be the leading facility for automotive wheel and tyre production throughout the UK. Voith Industrial Services has taken this major step as demand for its parts increases with the rise of UK automotive sales.
The firm has been operating at its current factory – located just metres away from the new site – for more than 30 years, but the 97,000 sq ft space is no longer sufficient for the successful business, which supplies wheels and tyres to a myriad of auto firms, including Vauxhall and Jaguar Land Rover.
The new plant will cost millions of pounds to build but Voith executives say that the move is necessary for a business which is growing exponentially and which has recently signed a new contract with Jaguar Land Rover to take over operations at the auto firm’s Wolverhampton engine plant.
Voith Industrial Services currently employs 80 people at its existing wheels and tyres manufacturing plant, but has said that new jobs will be created when the new 140,000 sq ft factory opens. Bosses want the current 20 second wheel and tyre assembly time to decrease to 12 seconds in the new facility.
