Jaguar Land Rover set record sales in 2015 in the UK
Last year was one of exciting progress for British auto manufacturers, with the industry experiencing its best sales year since the beginning of the economical crisis in 2005; and, after emerging victorious at the top of the sales table, Jaguar Land Rover has an extra reason to celebrate.
The UK automotive industry produced a staggering 1,587,677 vehicles in 2015, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT); this figure is an impressive increase of 3.9 per cent on the previous year. But what is perhaps even more impressive, is that Jaguar Land Rover produced more than 500,000 of these vehicles.
The manufacturer’s two production plants are situated in Solihull and Castle Bromwich, in Birmingham. The company has invested vast amounts of money into improving the productivity of these two factories, including the creation of over 10,000 manufacturing jobs.
A total of £11bn has been pumped into the brand by the Indian automotive giant, Tata Motors Ltd, who took over ownership in 2008.
It would appear as though the investment is now paying off. Jaguar Land Rover experienced record sales within the UK in 2015, with more new vehicles being registered than in any previous years in its history. And this success is not limited to home; Jaguar Land Rover has been named the fastest growing auto brand in the US.
