It’s out with the old and in with the new, as ’71’ registration plates comes into effect from today (1 September), taking us through the Autumn months and up until the end of February 2022. How many will you spot out on the roads today I wonder?
When I was younger, I used to get so excited when brand new cars came out, which in those days was just once a year. I’d sit in the back seat and watch every car that came past, looking for that first brand new car showing off its sparkly new registration plate. I’d shout out when I spotted the very first one and would continue to count until we got to our destination – happy days!
Nowadays of course, the excitement of a brand new car is enjoyed twice a year, on 1 March and 1 September, so double the fun for children who do what I used to do many years ago.
