Is a credit check required for new leases?

Yep. When you decide to lease a new vehicle, even if it’s for a month or a year you’ll be required to enter into a legal contract between you (the hirer) and the registered vehicle keeper (the lease company). As such, we have a duty to perform an affordability check to make sure our short-term lease is right for you.

To apply for a new vehicle lease, you will be required to fill in details on either a personal proposal form or a business proposal form (whichever is more relevant to you). Once we’ve received this application, we submit it to our in-house credit team for a decision.

They’ll perform checks to verify your identity and address as well as taking into account your income and expenditure. We normally will have a decision back to you within 24 working hours of submission.

If you get approved, you’re not committed to a vehicle but an account is open to you. There may be some instances where you fall into our ‘grey’ area and we may ask for a refundable deposit to support your application. This money will sit on your account and be refunded back to you in full at the end of the contract – providing no outstanding charges occur during the lease.

As we underwrite the contracts ourselves, we’ll look at each application individually. So don’t worry if you think you think you may not get through!
