BP will be rebranded and known as BP Chargemaster following the acquisition
The UK’s largest electric vehicle charger suppliers are to be bought buy oil giant BP.
Chargemaster, who are based in Luton, England are a company who provide charging units for home, business and public use. They also operate their own electric vehicle public charging network known as POLAR.
They run the POLAR charging network across the UK and currently have more than 6,000 charging points which include home, business and public installations.
There are currently 1,200 BP filling stations in the country which will all be fitted with ultra-fast chargers over the following 12 months. These super fast chargers will include 150kW rapid chargers which have the ability to deliver 100 miles of range in a mere 10 minutes.
BP believes that there’ll be 12 million EVs by the year 2040 on UK roads – in 2017 the figure stood at 135,000.

Chargemaster currently has around 40,000 customers and following the deal the oil company will be rebranded and known as BP Chargemaster.
