That’s significantly quicker than many of today’s rapid chargers, which can take anywhere between 20 and 40 minutes to deliver a similar charge, depending on the vehicle and charging point.

How can you try one?
Well, you can’t just yet. While BYD’s Flash Charging technology is already appearing at scale in China, we’re yet to see the chargers installed in the UK further than the demo models.
BYD’s vision is to have its initial 300 UK chargers spaced across the country at around 31 miles intervals. Sites expected to home charging stations, including BYD retailers, supermarkets and large service chains such as McDonalds and Starbucks.
Is electric car charging closing the gap on refuelling?
One of the biggest barriers to EV ownership isn’t so much driving range anymore, but confidence in electric car charging. Plugging your car in overnight at home and waking up to a fully charged battery is easy enough, but relying on public charging can be a different experience.
