Government funded Go Ultra Low campaign predicts electric vehicle dominance by 2027
Go Ultra Low campaign experts have said that the UK will be brimming with electric vehicles by 2027, as they predict that fossil fuel vehicles will be overtaken in popularity by low emission cars.
A new report produced by Go Ultra Low predicts a “electric revolution” by 2027, when they say over half of the new vehicles sold will be electric powered.
The automotive industry is currently at a ‘tipping-point’ according to the experts, who believe that electric vehicles will win the fight for automotive dominance within the next decade.
Electric vehicles to be more popular than fossil fuel vehicles by 2027
Electric vehicle sales are breaking records year-on-year and Go Ultra Low believes that sales will reach 1.3 million per year by 2027. Since 2011, more than 60,000 electric and hybrid cars have been sold in the UK.
The Government has already set a target of no fossil fuel vehicle sales in the UK by 2040, and the Go Ultra Low campaign, which is supported and funded the Government, is convinced that this is a realistic target.

Go Ultra Low has been vital in encouraging the British to set aside their love of petrol and diesel cars in favour of the more sustainable and environmentally-friendly plug-in automobiles, which produce less greenhouse gas emissions than their fossil fuel counterparts.
Until this year, a Go Ultra Low grant of up to £5,000 was available to those interested in buying an EV. Figures suggest that this cash incentive led to an increase in new EV registrations from 1,000 to 28,000 between 2011 and 2015.
