Am I Even Allowed To Lease A Car From Flexed If I Have A Pet?
Here in the UK, we adore our pets and often travel with them in the car. Whether it’s just a quick visit to the local vets or a two week family holiday by road or simply because they love going everywhere that we go, our furry friends enjoy nothing more than being with the ones they love and that occasionally means jumping in the car with us!
One question that we do get asked a lot, is whether you can actually lease a car if you have a dog that travels with you or does being a pet owner mean you can’t ever lease?
Luckily for our customers, being a pet owner doesn’t mean that you can’t lease a car, van or pickup from Flexed. The only thing we ask, is that you make sure the interior of your chosen lease vehicle is kept fresh, clean and damage-free so as to avoid end of lease charges.
At the end of your lease term, the vehicle you’ve been driving around in with your pet pooch will be inspected for any damage that’s not covered under the BVRLA Fair Wear & Tear guide, so it’s advisable that you look after your lease vehicle carefully whilst it’s in your possession, especially if you’re travelling with pets.
Of course, it’s the interior that’s going to be most affected by carrying ‘Fido’ and you can avoid causing any damage to the inside of your lease car by planning ahead and purchasing a few items to help keep it in the best condition.
If your furry friend is going to be travelling on the back seat with a harness on, you can buy seat protectors that are specifically designed to cover the entire back seat. This will ensure the seat is kept clean, scratch-free and smelling fresh, plus it will help keep any dog hairs in one place so that they can simply be brushed out of the car after every journey.
You can also purchase car boot covers that protect the space from dirt, grime and scratches if your dog travels in the back of the car, for example in an estate car that has plenty of room.
Dog crates/cages are a good idea if you want to prevent your pet pooch from being able to roam freely in the back of the car, as it keeps them protected within a confined area and also ensures no damage can be caused to your lease vehicle.
If you do have a dog that’s going to be riding with you in your lease car, a quick clean up every day will ensure your lease vehicle is kept clean and tidy – vacuum the interior regularly, check the seats for any signs of dirt and always carry a towel with you so that your furry friend can have it’s filthy paws wiped before jumping in!
Hang an air freshener inside to keep dog odours at bay and when travelling with your pet, open the windows to let some fresh air in but don’t let them hang their head out of the window as this can be dangerous.
