Halfords are launching their own breakdown recovery service in the UK, with plans to not only provide a new Breakdown Cover service for motorists but for cyclists too.
The firm plans to charge from 40p per week for their roadside assistance service with five different levels of cover to choose from.
Customers can decide whether to cover just a single vehicle, or choose personal cover that provides assistance in any car (even if they are a passenger), plus you can also ask for short-term EU cover.
There’ll also be a range of different grades of coverage which will include roadside and local, home assist and nationwide – of course the price will increase or decrease depending on your choice.

Halfords intention to offer cycle recovery will be well received amongst the cycling community. Included will be cycle recovery, so a cyclist with a broken bicycle can call for assistance and be recovered to their home, workplace, hotel, railway station or car hire firm.
A nationwide network of more than 400 independent recovery operators will be used by Halfords to provide the breakdown cover service.
The firm aims to reach customers within 40 minutes and where possible their target is to repair the vehicle on the roadside within 1 hour.
If it’s not possible to repair the vehicle at the side of the road customers will be able to choose whether to have their vehicle taken to a garage of their choice or a Halfords Autocentre.
It will not be compulsory for customers to use a Halfords garage, however policy holders will be tempted to with discounts on any repairs carried out at Halfords branches.
As for cyclists, they can decide whether to have their bicycle dropped off at the nearest Halfords store or an independent bike shop.
Halfords are also offering other incentives for policy holders such as 10% off servicing, half price MoTs and a Ā£10 gift voucher.
“We service and repair thousands of cars and bikes every week. Now, our customers will be able to access our range of services while out on their journeys,” said a spokesperson for Halfords, adding: “With the launch of our new Breakdown Cover, our policy holders will benefit from the expertise of over 700 Halfords shops and Autocentres.”
