Whilst two-tone cars are the ones most likely to be stolen
Motorists in the UK are still choosing black vehicles over any other car colour choice, making it the country’s favourite colour still.
According to a recent survey carried out by the UK vehicle history checking company mycarcheck.com, two-tone cars are the ones most likely to be stolen, whereas used black cars are still the nation’s favourite car colour choice.

The company’s new survey revealed the top five car colour choices in the UK:
1. Black
2. Silver
3. Blue
4. White
5. Grey
It seems as though many of us are steering away from a bit of colour looking at the list, which is a shame when you consider all the amazing colour options available today, including two-tone vehicles which the survey showed are the vehicles most likely to be stolen.
The searches carried out on mycarcheck.com confirmed that 22.68% of them were people looking for a black car – a similar finding to last year’s study.
Silver came a close second with 20.93% of searches, with blue third on 16.89%.
Head of valuation services at mycarcheck.com, Gavin Amos, said the top five favourite car colour choices equalled out when it came to write-offs, finance and the risk of being stolen, whereas two-tone cars were incomparably more likely to be stolen.
According to Mr Amos, the reason two-tone cars are more likely to be stolen is because sporty car owners tend to opt for this colour choice – different it may be but it does make the vehicle stand out, therefore making the car even more desirable to thieves.
As for the new car market in the UK, white tops the leaderboard with grey creeping up the list. Whether these trends will crossover to the used car market in the next couple of years is unclear but we’ll wait and see.
