The UK's best-selling cars of 2015

A record number of new cars were sold in the UK in 2015, with December alone seeing an 8.4 per cent sales increase on the previous year. A staggering 2.6million new cars were registered in the year, which is an overall 6.4 per cent increase upon the previous year’s 2.4million cars.
The only month in 2015 which did not see an increase in new car sales was the month of October. This anomaly has been attributed to the Volkswagen emissions scandal which broke out around this time and would likely have influenced buyers faith in automobile manufacturers.
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) collate car sales statistics yearly; as a result, we can see how many new cars have been registered per month and which cars were best-selling throughout the year. Here is the final list of best selling cars for 2015:

The Ford Fiesta, with a whopping 133,434 registrations in 2015, has retained its crown, as it comes in at number one for yet another year. And despite the Volkswagen scandal, the ever popular Volkswagen Golf came in at number four with 73,409 registrations in 2015.
