This stunning car was the highlight of the 2018 Paris Motor Show
Revealed at the 2018 Paris Motor Show and one of the biggest highlights of the biennial event was the all-new BMW 3 Series – a stunning looking car that will be available in the UK from March 2019.
The 3 Series is one of BMW’s most important model lines and their latest offering doesn’t hold back when it comes to style and elegance.
This is the seventh-generation 3 and will be known as G20, coming in the form of a petrol 330i and a diesel 320d.

Each version will include four-cylinder turbos, with BMW following quickly behind with a 330e iPerformance plug-in hybrid for those motorists who prefer the greener option.
There will no doubt follow six-cylinder performance versions but these weren’t the big news at its launch, just the rest of the 3 Series.
The new 3 Series’ appearance is dominated by creases and contour lines – a brave move for the model line. There’s a totally new look to the front, with elaborately shaped headlights and a broad BMW kidney grille. The bonnet features four contour lines that flow into the new look front, whilst the bonnet sits nicely flushed with the kidneys and lights.
The intakes for the aero-aiding Air Curtains on the SE and Sport models are something that BMW are proud of, this is because they use a NACA design that’s quite often seen on retro racing cars.
The side profile features a lot of design detail including strong lines around the rear door handle plus a striking lower contour which BMW says accentuates the rear wheel arches.
Designers at BMW have also combined the ‘Hofmeister kink’ into the C-pillar, giving the rear doors a freestanding glass edge.
Rear ends on more recent 3 Series models have been lacking a bit in character, however the new model features a pronounced boot lid spoiler lip and dark-tinted L-shaped tail lamps.
It’s also slicker through the air – the Cd drops from 0.26 to 0.23.
The new 3 Series compensates its loyal customers with a revolutionary new look interior, as the design and layout is more driver-focused with all-new trim materials now available such as mesh-effect aluminium and open pore wood.
The starter button has been moved to a much more user-friendly location next to the gear lever, plus electroplated trim strips have been added providing a more quality feel to the interior.
The new 3 Series will also feature BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, allowing the driver to speak with their car by simply saying ‘Hey BMW’, if they wish to.
The inside feels much bigger all round, providing the driver and front seat passenger with more shoulder room, whilst those in the back will benefit from more legroom as there’s more space between the front and rear seats.
The driver and passengers will find it easier to get in and out of, whilst the seat comfort has been improved upon, making it a real winner for those high-milers.
The 2.0-litre engine at launch comprises 190hp 320 d diesel or 258hp 330i petrol. The diesel can do 0-62mph in 7.1 seconds, or as an auto 6.9 seconds – the xDrive 4WD model offers the same acceleration. As a manual it can average 64.2mpg and 67.3mpg as an auto.
The 330i petrol comes as an eight-speed auto only, capable of doing 0-62mph in a rapid 5.8 seconds, nonetheless it still claims 48.7mpg and emits 132g/km CO2.
Every model features a standard 100-watt stereo, with the option to add a Harman Kardon 16-speaker 464-watt surround-sound system if desired.
There’s a choice of 10 metallic colours, however Portimao Blue is only available on the M Sport models. There are also two non-metallic shades on offer.
